Well very disappointed. This practice with Dr. Coker just seen me for the last time. It's frustrating to change but we do have choices, and maybe the doctors need to understand this.
Dr West is often in a hurry and does not do a detailed examination. My exam lasted 5 minutes and I was not given an EKG even though it had been more than a year since my last one and I had a history of heart problems. I was supposed to be getting medical clearance for work, but her exam was not complete enough and I had to get another one done just to finish the paperwork. I think she is friendly if she likes you, but otherwise you are just a number that ultimately helps her pay her mortgage on a very large lake house.
We moved here recently and established Dr. Askins as our primary care physician. We've been in for our new patient appointments, as well as for an ear infection. The new patient appointment process was trying, but I'm sure that's probably the case anywhere for an adult and three children. I was frustrated that I had to give all of our new patient information over the phone only to go in for appointments and have to fill it out yet again. (It would be far more convenient to find these forms online as to take care of it at home, before the appointment, without being in a waiting area with three children.)
Dr. Kim Hawkes and her staff take excellent care of my family. We are so fortunate to have found such a wonderful physician!
The staff is nice but Dr Slealy is awful. See any other doctor if you can.
In regards to the care received, I've been pleased with Dr. Askins. He is personable, good with children, and takes time to explain things in detail. He seems to err on the side of caution, which is appreciated. We were able to get an appointment for an ear infection on the day that I called. Wait time in the office is not super speedy nor ridiculously slow. All in all, we're pleased with the care and service here.
You go in for a physical and you hear how the doctor has some beef with the insurance co. Thinking he's just having a bad day he tries to explain he can't discuss medications with me because that's not part of a physical. Ok... never heard that one before. So the medicines you prescribe me you can't discuss them during a physical. It's obvious he was looking to change the coding to make more money but I'm sorry, it was a well check up and I need a refill on my scripts. If I need to make a separate appt for script refill then I will find another dr that understands that's part of the physical! We discuss my current needs. If I have questions it's simply a question, not a sick checkup. Unreal what I went through today. And my wife sees a dr in his group and says he is fantastic. She is a CRNA in the medical field and says he was so out of line. I felt the same way but just thought I would get through the visit and move on, it's not worth it to pay for poor service.
